The book moves sequentially from the general to the specific, building up a very personal and revealing account of the artist and his involvements. It provides interesting clues to LeWitt, what he thinks, what he does and how he lives. Each of the nine photographs on every page is arranged in a grid format, LeWitt's method of organizing information. Every reference is the same size with no object in his space more important than another. Sol LeWitt, born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1928, is a major contemporary artist who is recognized as a leading figure in the conceptual art movement. Photography is only one of the many mediums he uses to express himself. He is also well-known for his ink and wall drawings, structures and prints. He has exhibited extensively since 1965 and his work is included in the collections of almost every major museum in the United States and Europe. Among his many published works are his three most recent books: COLOR GRIDS, SUNRISE AND SUNSET AT PRIANO, and COCKFIGHT DANCE.
