3000 copies printed, but most of the edition accidentally destroyed. The most elusive of all of Ruscha’s printed books. The unusual format is a wide overly rectangular book bound along the top long edge with gatefold leaves. The gatefold leaves open up length-wise to make a continuous page nearly 30 inches long (75.8 cm) with 116 illustrations of traditional Dutch buildings and structures. The introduction explains in part that the book “covers the communities of Veendam, Stadskanaal, Musselkanaal, and Ter Apel, The Netherlands. The photographs were taken only at bridge locations and the bridges themselves used as a walkway by the artist to take the pictures with a hand-held Rolleiflex camera.”

1000 copies of the first edition printed, according to a letter in accompanying archive from the artist dated October 8, 1966. Later printings often are erroneously offered as the first.
The first state has a final half-page verso showing the end of the Jaguar building and the adjacent street.
